Model 37 12ga to 16 ga conversion

I saw a 16 ga bolt assembly for sale for an Ithaca Model 37 and it got me to thinking. Would it be possible to swap the bolt and barrel with a 12 ga model to convert it to 16 ga? Are the receivers 2 completely different sizes? Am I just whistlin' Dixie and dreaming pipe dreams?

I'd like to know this as well.

I believe the winchester 1897 receiver can be adapted using bolt on parts, but I don't know about the ithica 37.

I believe it may be different, as the 16 gauge stocks are different from the 12 gauge stocks on the m37.

I have the 12 ga, but not the 16 ga. But I do know that Ithaca used a different receiver for each ga. Many different manufacturers used the 12 ga receiver for the 16 ga, but Ithaca used a slightly smaller receiver for lighter weight.
