Do any of you have experience with an aftermarket trigger for the Winchester model 70 that you would recommend?

I'm thinking about a Timney, but would like some input.

How old is your Model 70?
I have used Model 70 Winchesters for almost 50 years, both pre 64 and post 64. The Model 70 trigger of that era is the easiest to adjust and personalize of any factory OEM made prior to the recent advent of modern design triggers.
Two 1/4" open end wrenches and you are in business. Give it a try before investing in an after market unit. You may surprise yourself!!!!!!!!

I agree, unless you have one of the new SC made Winchesters you already have one of the best triggers made. It may just need a little adjusting.

Not saying the new ones are bad, just that they are a completely new design and are as yet unproven.

A lot of people have FN Winchesters. The triggers are universally excellent (for hunting, anyway -- if you want an ultra-light trigger for target shooting, you may need to go aftermarket or custom).

The old ones are adjustable; the new ones come well-adjusted. Either way, I wouldn't pay for a replacement.

It is a New Haven "Classic".

I've already sent it to two different gunsmiths with no luck. I even tried my hand at it with no results.

I'm fed up with it. It's time for an aftermarket replacement so I can stop pulling out my hair.

I have a Timney...breaks like a glass rod at 2 3/4lbs...perfect. (it is on a New Haven Classic M70 Laredo)

Jewel two stage. That is what I have on my match M70's.

Midway sells them.

Oh yeah, Winchester did make some real crap near the end. That makes sense.

I'm glad FN has resurrected the Model 70 in fine form; I bought one, and now it's the only rifle I want to use. I never trusted the recent New Haven guns enough to buy one, though.
