I just posted re a new-to-me Vanguard sub-MOA rifle, which has an awful trigger. Who can recommend an aftermarket trigger? I'm aware of Timney, Canjar and Jewell. How "drop-in" have you found these to be? Preference?

Boy , there are some great aftermarket triggers out there. Look to JARD, RIFLE BASIX and TIMNEY. You can buy triggers down into the OZ's. for weight of pull up. I own both a timney and jard. Both are one pound triggers and both are equaly great. Maybe to light for most hunters but still heavy for the bench and both are adjustable heavier.

You trigger should be adjustable down to around 2lb and should work well for hunting. Do some searching and you may find how to adjust it down from around a 4lb max. What are you looking for , or expect. I loned my rifle to a friend as a backup on a hunting trip some years back. When he tried it out before leaveing on the hunt that 1lb trigger took him by superize. He was not comfortable with it.

I am very fond of the Timney and use them in a Remington, Ruger, and Mauser bolt guns plus I use them in ARs. The Timney Vanguard trigger can be set for 1.5 to 4 pounds.

I have a Timmey on a Mauser Build and I have another build in progress that will get another Timney. It is a very good product. I also have a Yugoslavian Charles Daly action that has what I believe to be a Timney on it. It is a very good adjustable trigger. I haven't put a barrel on this action, but since it already has a trigger and safety, it's ready to barrel and fit in a stock. It even already has a one piece scope base on it that accepts the Redfield style rings, dovetail in front and windage screws in back. So it's not far from being a rifle.

I put a Timney in my Vanguard right after I got it for the same reason. It was about a 10 min. job totally drop-in. Just be sure to have an in lb torque wrench available for the action screws when done. Another alternative is to call Weatherby customer service and send them your trigger. They are aware of the problem and will fix it for free. The Timney will give you a very nice trigger with the added bonus of three position safety also. Good luck either way you go. The torque specs and tightening procedure are on their website under FAQ's.Congrats on a very nice rifle, by the way.
