Funny story. My brother & I are on our way to check out what's going on at the gun stores (Hoffman's Gun Center) My Bro' recently bought a brand-new 625 (@ FSGuns) New trigger lock BS, but a nice gun anywho. I'n saying that I've wanted a 625 for the last 12 years or so, just never happened across a nice used one...We enter the store, scope out the used gun section...there it sits, a nice 625...$400. Well, I just HAD to take it home.

I gave her a good cleaning (she needed it!) and a Militec-1 bath and oven-cure. 10.6 lbs DA pull, 3.8 lbs SA pull. Now if it would just stop raining!

Can anyone date this thing? Ser # CBC92XX production code 100927. It came in a blue plastic box.

The "CBC" serial number series were produced during August, 1996.

Production Code #100927 = 5" Bbl./S/RB/FL/PG/GB & marked: Model of 1989 (which was used between 1989 to 2001).

Should be a 625-6. Blue cases started in 1996.

Strange .....

The 625-4 dates from 1990 and denotes .45 Colt caliber (not .45 ACP). I would also expect the frame to be square-butt. However stranger things have happened.

Old Fuff,

The Standard Catalog is a little fuzzy on their 625 data.

I have a '94 vintage (BRFxxxx) 625-4 5" round-butt .45 ACP, myself.

RussB,

Nice catch! :D

(With that cylinder latch on it, yours may have gone back to the Performance Center for some work.)

The trigger sure does feel likes it's been "massaged" a bit. The mainspring appears to be a stock unit as well (as opposed to Wolff's unit)

Thanks guys for the info.

Tamara,
SWEET GRIPS! Where'd you get them? What kind are they? I just got a unfired "model of 1989" 5" 625. It came with the ugley Pachmayer's and I need to change 'em. It's going to S&W on Monday for a 4" barrel. Then to Scott Mulkerin or Alan Tanaka for some "action work" and Hard Chrome!

Later,
Rich
