So, I'm going to be looking at one next week. Remington semiauto...anything else I need to know about it? He says its in good condition, he wants my Moss 500 HD setup. I am willing to do him the favor, but just would like to know anything you can tell me: Wikipedia doesn't say much about it.

Thanks gents,
Greg

Same as the Remington 11-48. It uses a simplified long recoil action, like an Auto 5 (or Remington 11) except with sexy lines.

The Remington 870 is basically a pump action version of the 11-48, so a lot of parts interchange or can be fitted. The unique parts will likely be expensive.

EX,

check out the Remington subforum forum on shotgunworld. may get the answers you are looking for there.

A friend of mine has one, very reliable weapon. The Mohawk 48's were made up to use the left over 11-48 parts. as i recall his gun liked rem-oil for lube on the mag-tube.

I have a regular 11-48 in 16 gauge, I enjoy it.

Long recoil operation isn't common on many modern firearms. It's unique, I like the way it handles better than my gas autos. That could honestly be fit more than action. I personally wouldn't trade my 11-48 for a M500. So, if you want something that's more of a classic than tactical I would say go for it. If your 500 is a special edition or has valuable aftermarket or gunsmith modifications it won't be a fair trade. 11-48's aren't generally expensive shotguns, so if the 11-48 isn't in great shape it's probably not a good deal for you.

Hey, the sexiest shotgun ever made was the Auto 5.

I would think your gun is worth more. The 48s are cheap here. Find a pawnshop and tell them to call you when they get one.

Thanks SlowFuse. That was great.

Made the trade. It worked well for my buddy and I got something interesting...good for both.

Thanks guys.
