Let us remember who the Spartans were; the most boring and violent of all the Greek city-states. They lived together in infamously homosexual "messes", and every so many years would cull their slave population by a certain percentage in a ritual massacre. This kept the slaves in terror....and eager to stay off the list. The Spartans could obviously fight and were brave as hell. But that was the ancient world- it was cruel beyond what we can imagine, was based on a slave economy, and man-boy love was accepted as fairly common (I am not gay by the way). For those of us still fighting the civil war, or politically polarized, we might note Greece as an example; joining forces against the Persians was the exception. Those people were so busy fighting each other they finally self-destructed.

Most heroes are flawed- as a hero for the most part is a regular person who "steps up" during crisis. These guys were professionals who knew they would die & didn't take the surrender option. Is it important to remind us that during their time it was culturally acceptable to have slaves or treat women as second class etc? Let's erase the Alamo and mention of George Washington and Thomas jefferson from the books then....
Not to be insulting, but you remind me of the kid who wouldn't skateboard or ride bikes with the other kids by proclaiming "that's gay or stupid".
So did you want to order some stickers and support the board & help me get reimbursed or not? :D

Mrs Scout26 wouldn't let me put it on her car until I told her who to pronounce it and then the story behind it. As she said "I want to be able to explain it to the jerk who pulls up next to me and asks me what it means."
