I am considering a Les Bear Monolith for IPSC. I have read through Appendix D, but still can't tell if the pistol is allowed in IPSC.

It is 5 inches long, but it does weigh a little more than the average 1911 and it has a full length dust cover.

I don't want to buy it and then not be able to use it. I did read the Les Baer website and they say it's good for USPSA or Bullseye, but don't mention IPSC.

I wanted it to help reduce recoil because of the added weight in the dust cover.

Thanks,
Joe

If you shooting "Ip-Sick" in the USA, you are really shooting a USPSA match (although with the new rules, there could be both IPSC AND USPSA matches put on here).

If you are international, I don't have the answer for IPSC strictly.

Mr. Smith,

I appreciate you clearing that up for me. I guess then the Les Baer website clears things up as far as the monolith being allowed for IPSC or USPSA.

Has anyone been in a situation where they couldn't use a monolith????

In the US under USPSA rules the Monolith will be fine for L10 and Limited, though it really only fits in Limited 10. If you want a heavy Limited 10 gun and shoot in the US go for it.

If you aren't in the US I have no clue what is and isn't allowed.

Not sure if you want to shoot other games, but the Monolith is not legal for Single Stack or IDPA CDP. You really don't gain that much from the extra weight out front.
