Moose Elk and Coyote, no Turks.

Slipped a wrench fitting a Gunshy quiver and dinged the lower limb on my Blackwidow PSA2.
Sending limbs back for refinish, purely cosmetic.
$ mistake. Oh well.

Nice quiver, not cheap, but better for fwd mounted limbs. Sits a little farther back than I like on a Widow.
So put on a Selway. Hood lower than I like but it will work.

Pretty frustrating, the old Delta quivers were pretty good (no longer made).

So with the $$ Gunshy quiver laying around...........maybe I should build and ILF rig for the quiver LOL
Blackmax carbon shorts on a Discovery riser maybe.

Oh yeah!
That's a nice brookie.
Where are you?

Here's my Bear Grizzly 52# recurve and quiver. It hangs unstrung on antlers in the mancave below pictures of some of my bird dogs.

I'm in KY. That's a rainbow. Wish I had some Brookie streams!

Yes it stocked 3 times a year, but the bows have been spawning successfully long time. They stock it with a few Browns, but no sign whatsoever of any spawning success.
Seems longer you cook em tougher they get! So I finally learned to let em lay, and when you go by an old chestnut stump or find a birch or beech stump, just have stump jerky. Pull off a strip and I carry a little french onion dip, fine snack in woods. Just like raw peas!

I'm familiar with the Moonshine Rods, look like some fine rods, pack it up come on. I'm in the SE corner, next to VA & Tenn line. But not too many years ago, I'd been begging to come your way. You're in Squirrel Hunting Paradise, those hickory bottoms near the Ohio R, I know. Back in 70's and 80's, we used to hunt right on the banks of the Ohio, right across from Madison IN. My dad, and all my family, where Squirrel Hunters bigtime! We'd hunt several places in KY and lot in Tenn.
And not to mention them Big Bucks up there, Whew!
Only hunt squirrels now a few times a year at most, but I was raised on Squirrel Meat, and still love it!

Squirrel hunting paradise! I haven't been Squirrel hunting in decades. I have taken up the hobby of watching them while deer and turkey hunting (it helps pass the time).

I have great memories of hunting Squirrel as a child with my dad and or buddies...

Your boys are lucky with your big edible squirrels. Around here we only have little Pine Squirrels, and they are not "great". Really don't know anyone who hunts them Here. I only see Greys in and around the towns. But, there's plenty of them, and in survival mode I'd certainly pop a few and cook them up. Probably would take five or six for a small meal!! On the other hand, not being hunted you can easily get a good shot at one. They are not spooky or shy.

I used to be an avid coyote hunter, but lost my taste for killing them, or killed so many it left a bad taste in me mouth, or something like that, so these days I just live and let them live. Yes...sometimes the temptation hits me, but I resist. I do enjoy seeing them. Right now it's the wolves up North that are wiping out the big game, but eliminating a few of those would get me in more trouble than I want. The already large wolf population in Northeastern Washington increased 20% in 2023. !!! There are numerous packs that cover about all the Northeastern part of the state. That sucks.
Way back when, I would occasionally take coyotes as targets of opportunity, almost always with a longbow. And I always felt a little bad about it afterwards - it's awfully hard to justify it, and while I tried to eat the first one, I just couldn't manage more than a few bites.

By the time my youngest was five or so, he had completely fallen in love with coyotes, and even had a little stuffed toy he called "Song Dog" that he took with him everywhere he went. Call me a softie if you will, but that was the end of my coyote killing days.

You're welcome to come stay in my megablind and wake up with the hickory hulls raining down on the roof.
I'll trade a fishing trip for those rainbows.
Or big Wisconsin walleyes.
In my younger days, I hunted and fished 3 states. Now 99% of my hunting I step out door, get on a 4w, 5-15 minute ride. No hunting here to brag about, but it's home! 99% of my fishing, the same. I can look out window see the stream. Lord has blessed me!

Lotta people turn up their nose to squirrel meat. They're just robbing themselves because of their thoughts! Cleanest animal on planet, at least the wild ones! My mom was the squirrel cooking king, fried, on gravy, +! She had to be!
If you don't try em any other way, try em way I've been doing it long time. Slow cooked in Slow Cooker or Crockpot, till meat is almost falling off bone. Drain 90% of water. Smother in choice if barbecue sauce, cook just few minutes. Barbecue Squirrel Wings! So easy and so good. Most people quarter em, but for this method, half em right behind ribcage. Keeps em from falling apart because they're so tender. I'd bet even the Pine Squirrel be good like this. My favorite is fried tho, in KY Colonel Seasoning!

My dad was an avid quail hunter until his knees made him quit walking the fencerows. Then he became an avid squirrel hunter.
He has a deadly accurate Remington 552 Speedmaster, iron sights and a Winchester 42 .410 pump. I always carried my faithful LC Smith 20ga sxs.
We brought home dozen of Squirrels every year. It was our thing until I started trapshooting with him.
Fried squirrel and gravy with biscuits. That's the best.
