Years ago while wearing cross-country mountain skis (short & wide) during a trip to check a trap line, I encountered a young bull moose that took immediate exception to me being in the vicinity. Fortunately, he evidently was content to see me scat & I did learn just how fast a young man could run with boards strapped to his feet . . . over the years, I've concluded that I would rather encounter bears than moose.
