My Black Dog magazines came the other day, and then it commenced to rain. I had them all loaded up and was planning on hitting the range to make sure they worked at the end of the day, but it was not to be. But today, it was bright, and I went early, which was a good thing, as it is getting real cloudy right now. But anyway...
I had a blast! I thought I was having fun with that little 10 rd mag that came with my Ciener conversion kit. But the Black Dog 30 rd mags were an entirely different experience! Of course I got to go bang a whole lot more, but even more importantly in my mind, they functioned better. The mag that came with the Ciener just does not want to feed that first round without some bumping around and a few "special" words said. The Black Dog mags functioned flawlessly.
But after 200 rds out of the AR and another 50 or so out of my little Walther P22, my thunb was getting sore from loading those little bitty rounds. I found one loader for Ciener magazines on the web, but the guy wants $135.00 for it, plus he talks about bending the lips of the magazine. That is not going to happen with the BD mags. Does anyone know of another possibility of a speed loader for these things? Of course, if I can find one of them, I am going to be spending a lot more on .22 ammo.
As an aside, I also discovered that the bulk stuff I have been buying from Cabela's, Federal 36 grain rounds in the blue box work well in every .22 I have, regardless of the action - semi auto, bolt, or revolver. I count that a blessing, as it makes buying the stuff a lot easier.
