The only gun in this caliber is a 'new' Spanish FR8 Mauser and I'm well-read about the controversy/misunderstandings which deal with .308, 7.62, Cetme 7.62 . The main problem is the huge psi conversion factor from either Saami to C.U.P, or maybe vice versa.
Coomercial .308 is only 4,000 psi more than basic NATO, with test pressures for both types an extra 50% higher.

My only goal is economics.
Anyway, with light loads to reduce brass (& one grain less in mil. brass), would the thicker NATO 7.62 brass reload more times than comm. .308?

Is there a fair chance that the Lee Autoprime handle or a reloading die spike will break off when trying to punch out military primers?
This happened to both when I used some old .303 British military brass with my single stage Lee gear.

It will largely depend on the manufacturer or even the particular run from a manufacturer that will determine the number of loadings you'll get. Annealing will help if done properly. Loading lightly as you mentioned helps the most. I've never had too much issue with breaking things when removing crimped in primers and I use Lee as well as more expensive tools.
