Hey thanks for all of the good info. I called one of my buddies that has a Makarov .380 and he is going to let her shoot that to see what she thinks.

Does any body have any input on the Bersa .380 thunder? I 've heard mixed reviews. Is this something we should consider?

Bersa makes a good 380 auto, but the recoil can be a bit snappy. I would suggest that she shoot as many different guns as possible and let her make the final decission. It will be her gun, so she needs to pick it out. Although you or someone more familiar with guns needs to give her guidelines to go by. I know that all of this has been said before, but I thought I would just chime in as well.

Good luck! And I hope that she gets something that she will be happy and efficient with!!!!!

I owned a Bersa 380 for a short while. It jammed a lot - with quality ammo. But it's got a low price point. I guess you get what you pay for.

Mixed in with all of my quality handguns, I still own a brand NIB
Bersa Thunder DT .380 ACP. It is one fine shooting, inexpensive type
handgun. I've shot everything from Rem-UMC metal case hard ball to
Federal Hydra-Shok's without nairy a problem.

Usually, if a jam does occur it is usually one of three things going on.
Bad ammo, damaged or improperly fitted magazine, or the shooter is
"limp wristing". Check these area's first, and the little Bersa should
run just fine~!:D

Sold my Bersa Thunder because...

I got tired of the screws coming out,:cuss: the rattle in the handle,:banghead: and the way it seemed to wear quickly.:scrutiny: I have a H&K with more rounds through it than the Bersa, that looks brand new. The Bersa did not impress me as a quality gun. You get what you pay for, and the Bersa Thunder is cheap.

It did not jam much, but did some. It was pretty accurate, a good point. It disassembled OK, not as easy as a Walther however. I would not and did not carry it because I didn't trust it.

that's my $.02. Some people love them. I say it's a "c" grade only.

I see you'll check out Makarov. They are reliable, with only one flaw...the trigger. If she likes the Makarov, then there are many guns to "test feel and shoot". Beretta, Sig, Walther, CZ 83, among others. Good luck:)
