I'm looking for a good place to read up on NJ SD laws, as I'm sure they're both extensive and restrictive. I'm looking for what kind of responsibility and liability I'm assuming by owning firearm in this state.

I tried the NJ state legislation web page, but it's difficult to navigate and search; Not to mention difficult to read through all the legal speak.

While I appreciate any info a fellow New Jersian has, I'd like to keep this more towards good places to find info, rather than the info itself. Google was less than helpful.

There's a place in Jersey City that has a $40 "Use of Force and Force Options" class in addition to the Basic courses. I actually emailed them earlier tonight for more info, since the decriptions for some of the classes (on the Registration page) are missing.

There's also some basic info here:

The laws and trivia pages there have some references to the individual statutes. I would keep hacking away at the legislature page - just click Statutes on the left, then click the '+' next to Title 2C and scroll down to 2C:39 and 2C:58 (there's a tiny arrow on the right if you scroll all the way down). It may be easier to print the sections to read off-line.

Hope it helps. Sounds like you're in the same boat as me.

I'm pretty sure we are in the same boat, I am also waiting on my permits. And located very close ( ~5mins ) to the NJ Meadowlands area. :D

I think I'll be contacting the JC academy as well.

I figured hammering away at NJ Legislation site would be the one of the only ways to go. It is quite rough, it's like they don't want you to read it. :banghead:

2C:39 and 2C:58
Chapters 39 and 58 won't give you anything on self-defense. You need to read Chapter 3- specifically, sections 2C:3-4 through 2C:3-6.

Given that this is New Jersey, the SD laws are actually sort of reasonable :)
