um, there's blood all over your truck.
you would get pulled over so fast up here for that...
Yep you get pulled over for that here also, but only cause the LEO wants to know if you are giving any of them away and if so can he have one...
You kiddin, I live in Kali. They would have the SWAT teams deployed, Sheriff's TAC units and liberals shaking fists at you.
You would be cuffed and gagged before they figured out it was pigs blood.
Yep they deploy Swat teams here, cept they send em up in the helos and machine gun the hogs...
Man this is Texas, it doesn't phase anyone. I drive in to pick-up my little girl from daycare and the teachers pull the kids out for show and tell when I have hogs on the box. I swear I don't think it would be pretty if I lived in Cali or Seattle; I have little tolerance for people attempting to set the standards by which I live, I have even less for those who attempt to enforce those standards upon me. I guess I am just a bad person, but a good citizen.
P95,
The first hog about a 115lb boar took a 1 oz slug to the buttocks at about 2yds, he broke out of the bush he was in and caught a 350gr Hornady HP from a 45/70 in the chest at about 2yds. Then my stupid dog grabbed him cause he was still trying to get away and James stabbed him a couple times in the heart. The slug shot exited, but was at a steep angle, it went in the top of the left hip and exited lower right ham. The 45/70 went low and broke the sternum and every rib along the lower chest.
2nd was double shoulder shot with a slug at 20yds, it was DRT
3rd was out of a bay at 7yds through both shoulders it was DRT
4th was a 5yd shot out of a bay through the neck with a slug DRT
5th was a 350gr HP from a 45/70 at 5yds through the chest missing shoulders, the hog broke and ran and I implanted a 1 oz slug into him at about 12yds, hit him at the last rib and it exited out the chest in front, he just rolled over. The 45/70 was lethal but I didn't see blood on him.
The 6th was an AR-15 and 55gr softpoints from Winchester. I made a series of crappy shots, managed to hit him 5 times in the guts and once low in the front leg on the run, tracked him down, missed him at 10yds with a slug when he broke out of a bush. Tracked him some more and killed him with a double shoulder shot at about 7yds.
My synapsis, the AR sucks in the brush, I was shooting at a hog running through prickley pear cactus. I had hit him once or twice and he got into the thick stuff. I just pulled the rifle in front of him about 15' and emptied a 30rd magazine into the cactus there, just chopped a hole through it where he was fixin to cross. It worked cause I hit him a few more times. It sure wasn't pretty though.
I turned around to look at James and he sorta looked like this...
I have some better bullets for hogs in the AR but in that pasture and a few others I use the 55's cause they explode pretty good on impact. A few cows and such are there and I don't want to shoot a really hard bullet to lessen the chance of a richochet.
The 1oz slugs seem to be the ticket for most, I really am impressed and its changed my carry preference for loads in my scattergun in the truck. It is one 3" OOO buck followed slugs. When I go to the hog woods I pop the buck and just use slugs. I won't use buck on a hog anymore.
The dog seems to be doing ok, I have to drain the blood out of the cut later today to keep the swelling down. I just keep pumping her full of feed, topped with warm water and mixed with red cell for the iron she is missing to help replenish the blood supply asap so she can fight infection better. I'll go pick-up some oral antibiotics in the morning at the vet and start her on those. I let her out this morning and she ran around a bit.
