More than a few AR .223 mags: primary motive?

utility belt with four M14 magazines in pouches plus a GI M14 cleaning kit. I gave $40 for it. Didn't "need" it but figured for my $40 I got four more GI M14 magazines and so it goes..... The owner still jokes with me about that.
P '61 Mag pouch with glove snaps in good condition, $10 each.
P '61 belt with matching snaps, $40-75 (ignorant v. knowing seller)
P '61 M-14 Cleaning kit and pouch--$29.95 to $35
GI M-14 mags, $20 each

So, $140-150 in one belt, for $40? You made out like a bandit.

For me, magazines are like anything else in our world--if it's a good deal, and I have the cash, I buy it.

Ammunition, magazines, spring kits--doesn't matter to me as long as it's a good deal.

So, ok, I have a couple extra pistol rugs, an unknown number of AR mags, and an equally unknown number of 1911 mags.

I never, EVER bring boxes of ammo to the range. I sit in front of the TV, load mags/speedloaders/strippers and shoot the next day. I HATE thumbing rounds into mags wasting valuable range time. If I have a few dozen of each type of mag or speedloader, I never have to do that.
Just the opposite here. I only bring a few magazines for each rifle or gun I will be shooting and all are empty. My range days are typically an 8 hour day outdoors. I sort of "stage" things the night before and early morning load the truck, the ammo in ammunition cans. Range days for me are leisurely and during the week I normally only see a few other shooters out there. I like being on the range at first light and things work out well as morning traffic is opposite of where I am going and same for afternoon traffic. I bring my beverages and munchies. Anyway, I only bring a few magazines and go to and from with empty magazines. I guess people do whatever works for them.

The evil, high cap mags that entice an otherwise peaceful black rifle to go out and hurt people have proven to be an easy target. As a commodity type of item I grab some when I find a good deal.

If one is paying by the hour (which in some places is just the cost of our sport) why would one load up at the range?

Because common sense is not is common anymore?
