Well, after paying $281, to have a new firing pin made, and have the crap cleaned out from the striker pin well area in the slide, my Star Pistol Super Modelo, is back at zero, and does not have the striker resetting (it does not 'hover' above the striker well, if that makes sense). I'm looking at spending $68 to get it fixed, or $30 something dollars for a 1911 punch kit, to remove the firing pin and clean the well in the slide. I was shooting the 1977 Santa Barbara ammo, and it shot fairly well, and then it stopped hitting the primers. I got back from the range, and noticed a small brass piece, got stuck around the firing pin (was able to remove it later). Has anyone had similar issues, with the older surplus ammo? I was going to order new production from grafs, but had to hit the range yesterday, so I shot corrosive, thinking I'd just have to clean the gun very well.

It sounds like your best bet will be to take it to a pistol smith and have them give it a good looking over.

You may also want to look for parts here...

There are other sites as well. The Star Model B has been out of production for a good while and Star is no more, but many were made and some parts are available.

It sounds like you bought yourself trouble. Which is often the case with older guns with no current source for spare parts and which were not so common here.

I can't tell what the problem is from your description. I do think you will be best serve by having a gunsmith look it over. It may be a expensive project you have taken on.
