More TV nonsense

I like NCIS, but usually stuff on TV is made up to provide a plot line for the show.
It takes longer to match DNA than the 45 minutes NCIS lasts (without commercials) but keep in mind they DO need to show a whole story within that time, plus TV time is not real time.
I know 24 says events are in real time, but that's a joke. In this past season Jack was exposed to a deadly prion based disease. The lab techs were out in the field and had diagnosed him in thirty minutes. Think THAT'S realistic?
They drove all around Washington DC and got places in minutes ... DC residents will tell you you can't do that due to the traffic.
All TV shows have phony things.

My favorite is the "bumper" between segments of A&E's "48 Hours" I believe.
It shows in slow motion cartridge cases falling to the ground. Look closely..........the primer pockets are EMPTY!

In the opening theme of the old show "Hawaii Five-O" there's a short clip of a revolver with the cylinder out being spun which lasts a couple of seconds. DVD release shows that the primer pockets are all pocked -- they're spent cases -- maybe blanks.

My DVR sucks, apparently. I watch for like two weeks for the Gangland episode about my very own hometown, Charlotte...and it's this morning, and my DVR can't see another week in the future. Dang!

Didn't help that the Gangland website has no future shows section...

I wouldn't have known about the program at all except for a local independent newspaper that talked about how the cops here are ignoring/not dealing with the gang problem.
The Kings got raided, but the rest of the Charlotte gangs? Not so much...

I have yet to see a single TV show involving prisons that is even close to accurate. Walker, Texas Ranger used to be REALLY bad for that. I also note many many firearms related mistakes on TV, to the point I really don't watch the tube anymore.

Dude. The one episode of Walker Texas Ranger I saw had Chuck Norris shoot from the hip and knock a baddy's gun out of his hand.

actually, he hipshot his gun just to get the guy's attention, the knocked the gun out of the badguy's hand with a stern look

It was the blindingly fast spinning back kick, too fast to see, just the shockwave will automatically disarm all assailants within 100 feet, setting the stage for the fistfight, so he and Trevett can beat some bad guy behind.
Some of his episodes set in prisons were so laughably wrong I couldn't watch anymore.
