Hi Guys:
Here's a little something for your viewing pleasure this Saturday morning.
These are a pair of M39 Finnish Mosin's. I bought them together a while back.
I believe they were unissued, #'s matching arsenal rebuilds. They came with new barrels and new unfinished stocks and then slapped together at the arsenal. They're like new in every respect. Everything is there, they just needed to be reassembled with some TLC, beyond the arsenal purview. So I fitted, stress relieved and bedded the barrel and action to the stock/handguard assembly. Then I fitted the handguard to the stock for perfect cosmetic appearance. Then I stained it and then sealed the stocks/handguards with Watco Danish. I removed any dulling of the finish on the bolt with a light polishing and polished trigger sears for a smooth pull and clean break right at 5 1/2 lbs.
With .311 in dia. Sierra 174gr. Match King bullets on top of 46.0gr. Reloder 15 and CCI BR primers it goes right at 2700 fps and will shoot sub-MOA. But iron sights are hard for me at 100 yrds. My eyes quickly get tired.
Anyway, I know there is Mosin fans out there so let me know what you think.
:)

I wouldn't sell them for all the tea in China.

Have you priced what they are going for if you can find them? Keep them both, especially if they are shooting Sub-MOA. You can get glasses that will help you see the sights better :).

I badly want to ditch my Soviet 91/30 for an M39. I like to keep a rifle around in that caliber, and the Finn rifles are definitely head and shoulders above the Soviet ones.

as i missed the boat when they were cheap and had to buy five rifles to get my 1941 war issued 39 rifle serial number 41050,it has use bumps and scrapes but has a ex VKT barrel and i,m happy with it. eastbank.

I like what you did, they look good. Watch out for the purists out there, nothing ticks them off more than a rifle that's been perfected.

Leon thinks I should keep 'em ........................... I do have quite a bit of time and effort in them.
I have a guy in Eugene OR who is offering me $1300 for the pair and he will pay the transfer fees and background check at my FFL dealer.
What say you

Carbine, I fully understand the nature of the "purist." And you are correct ................... they do tend to get OCD ................. however as these were never issued after being rebuilt by the arsenal there is no real history to them. And if you were to inspect, handle and shoot these in a before and after situation there would be no doubt that the after is greatly improved from what the arsenal had done.
After all perfection is hard to beat

Lencac,

If you sell them, you will miss them, you will want to replace them, and then that is when the sticker shock will hit and you will think why did I sell the beautiful straight shooting ones I fixed up in the first place?

I own 6 Remington 870s. I do not need 6 Remington 870s. But everytime I shoot one of them at the range or in a class, I easily get rid of any notion of selling them.

Keep the Finnish Mosins.

Yep.

I see a used 870 at a pawn shop and it is like a puppy at the SPCA crying, "Pick Me, Pick Me" :).

Very nice!

I'd go for it, but that's just me. You can buy any number of other Finn Mosins for that money. I just picked up a Tikka 91/30 unissued for $350 and it promises to be every bit as tack driving as my M39, maybe better.
