Hi lads, shot my Finnish M24 today at the range, decided to try some freehand shooting, 1st impressions it shoots V.accurate = very happy.

I had an issue of extraction ; using hungarian heavyball ammo, it will eject unfired, but fired it will not eject, the bolt moves freely but leaves the shell up the chamber.

I used Silvertip (lightball) and it fires and ejects.

I have not tried brass cases yet.

Any ideas please ?

many thanks

Have you stripped the bolt COMPLETELY? If not, do so and make sure that there is no hardened cosmoline anywhere which would prevent the extractor from functioning correctly.

If that doesn't work, you may need to replace the extractor.

It's the ammo. Betcha that Hungarian heavy ball ammo was meant for machine guns and is higher pressure.

Thanks for the replies, yes I have cleaned the bolt now (many thanks for the link) And the heavyball is machine gun ammo (or anti aircarft ammo) I will take down to the 100 yard range tomorrow with Prvi 7.62 and hope it works.

This gun shoots VERY well,so hopefully it is the ammo !!

many thanks
