oh yeah, and the carbine is a great self defense weapon- you can blow a fist sized hole in someone and set them on fire at the same time at 10-15 ft. (just watch what else it will hit!)

in otherwords, the M44 fireball is impressive.

Thats damn pretty, indyk

Ya, the darker red was nice. The next one will be kept original, just cleaned up.
This one was clean, all numbers matching, perfect barrel, smooth. So i decidied I wanted to make it look like it had came off the line, w/o the shellac.

Also it was a reason to practice refinishing.
What better rifle to practice on!:)

Quality rifle? I have never known anyone who has yet to break one! It did also help to get Stalingrad back.

mosin's are fantastic. i have a 91/30, m44, finnish vkt m-39 that oozes quality. the mosin will always remain in the collection. i find myself buying 7.62x54r just because i feel like i stole it from someone. it is the best kept secret in surplus, i think i will buy an m38 or a tula 91/30 this weekend at the gunshow. i love looking at the 39's at gunsnammo. i want one with the plum barrel badly.

When everybody is crazy buying the fancy ones nowadays, the mosin are the underrated ones. Proven and dead reliable. Cheap and powerful to hit its target. TIme to get one before its all gone. AMmo has already creep up on them and we will see an uncertainty in the days to come. The nice thing too is we have plenty of quality hunting ammos of 54 Rs in the market. I have Sellier and Bellot 180 gr sighted with my Finn M 39. It grouped 1.5 inch at 100 yds.

And there's even a few places that sell them by the case!
Love the damn things. An original 1891 Nagant was the first milsurp I every got.

I can not believe that people are falling for the panic now mentality. They buy any over-priced, chic rifle (i.e. AR-15) for about $1,000 or more, when they could buy Both a MN and an SKS plus lots of ammo for each, at about the same total price.

(whispering here) Let's keep silent about this so that they won't discover how much value and durability they are missing.;)
It would be nice to buy a second SKS or third MN in a few months after people discover that the Senate has "much bigger fish to fry", as in worsening unemployment and mortgages, having bought guns that they are barely going to use-if at all.
