mosin scope mount

also, i have an extra stock. was thinking of bolting a mount to it ( some how) has any one ever done this type of thing?

thanks ( include pics if possible)

I put one on a Mosin for a guy about a year ago. It wasn't a modded shotgun one, but rather one that mounted right to the forward part of the receiver. It was round, and had six holes in it (you had to tap the receiver 6x to mount it.) Worked really well.

when i get my mill early next year i'm going to make a few.
right now on one of my mosins i have a short section of picatinny rail mounted to the front ring with a burris p.e.p.r. ar-15 cantilever mount turned backwards on it and it works good but is a little higher than i would prefer. when i get my mill i'll probably recontor the bottom of the burris mount to fit it directly to the receiver instead of to the rail.
i also have a finn m28/76 mosin target rifle with the sniper scope base coming in about a week so i'll have to make the upper half of the mount for it too since none are availible

let me reword my post:

i know there has to be some way to attach a scope mount , that looks similar to a "PU mount", to the wood stock. i was thinking of using a shotgun mount as the design idea. and attaching a weaver rail to the mount.

my reason for this is i dont want to turn down my bolt handle.

and my mosin stock is a real mess, so it wont do any damage modding it.

Rock Solid makes a nice mount, but it's pretty high and you have to have a down-turned bolt handle to work the action with a scope on it. I was working on a mock up of one where the rear section of rail mounted on top of the front of the receiver and replaced the rear sight (as many already do), but I was also including a kit to replace the front sight with an AR15 type front post. The rear of the scope mount would have an integrated AR-type integrated, dual aperture sight and there'd still be enough room to mount a red dot of sorts. It's still in the R&D phase but hopefully I'll be able to get one produced.

Are you asking? If you mount a scope to a wood stock, Instead of the steal barrel?
zero would jump around after each shot,is my thought.

They are a somewhat hard to find nowadays, but there exists a mount which allows one to use a PSO type scope on a Nagant if you have a turned down bolt. It only has three screws to be threaded and it is quite impressive looking. :)

Also, Kalinka has a few to look at.

Machined one

This was cheaper than purchasing one but still had to purchase a rail. Either way though it came out nice. Just a piece of square tubing with on side cut off and welded onto the receiver.
