I've been wanting a true target rifle for awhile, something scoped that I can shoot tight groups with past 100 yards. Getting another rifle is not an option so I've decided to convert one of my mosins.
Ive got an all matching 1938 Tula and a 1955 T53 that the previous owner cut down 4" (but did an amazing job doing it, including the crown). I'll be taking both out next weekend to compare the accuracy though I'm hoping the T53 is more accurate since I don't want to modify the Tula.
Assuming the T53 is more accurate, would it make more sense to leave the bolt alone and make it a scout rifle or do the full modification? My only dealing with a scope were with a cheap scope 10+ years ago and the optics were terrible which has left a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to scopes.
If I do the scout option, what would be the best scope mount and best scope for under $100 each?
Lastly, if you have a scout, can you post pics?
Thanks.
