I am thinking about getting one of these in the super bantan. I like the .308 cal. So please do not suggest an different one. I like the different butt stock for the varying lenths of pull. The synthetic stock is not really a plus or a minus for me.

What I really want to know is how good of a rifle is this. It will mostly be used for deer and hog hunting.

Personally I'd like a little more barrel length out of a .308 but to each his own.

All the ATR models that I've looked at seemed to be built pretty well. It's no m700, but you're not paying m700 prices either.

Can you elaborate on this a bit?? "How good" in waht respect?? build? Accuracy out of the box??

For the same money I can think of two alternatives... but, generally speaking, I haven't heard much about the Mossberg, but the short barrel will affect the velocity and accuracy to some degree...

I am basically looking at out of the box accuracy. I will probably put a 3-9 scope on it. I don't expect this to be a sub moa rifle at all. I would think that maybe 2 moa would be acceptable. Then again in this part of Oklahoma it is hard to get much more than say a 50 yard shot in without hitting something else.

I remember the issue of American Rifleman in which they reviewed both the Mossberg 100 and the new Stevens (Savage) 200.

It was a brutal thing to do to Mossberg. Their gun had a significant disadvantage in group size. I think that's about the only thing (other than price) many gun purchasers look at in those articles.

It was also a little more expensive than the Stevens.
