so, all this talk of first guns, favorite guns, etc got me to thinking. I dont really know alot about my first gun, my Mossberg 183 DB. Dad got it from a friend of his when I was born and I got it when I was young (young enough to appreciate it but not old enough to remember when it was...haha).
It has had a rough life. It got pretty rusted up and beat up in the stock when we moved and suffered water damage to our house and didnt know it, and it was a hot humid area anyway.
In 2002 i stripped the whole gun down, bought some gun blue from walmart and re blued it myself, sanded the stock and re stained it, etc. There is no serial number on it except for the one that the jackass in the armory on base put on it with a pencil etcher (would love to have kicked his ass for that, but no choice as it is on base)
The lettering on it can be barely made out and I got the model number off of it and manufacturer. I am just not having a whole lot of luck online finding information about it, so I thought I would ask here.
If anybody knows something about these guns, what they are good for besides squirells and such, or any information on it really, I would really appreciate to know.
BTW, I saw one identical to it on sale at the gun store in Oxnard for 89 dollars, so I know it isnt worth much other than memories, but that is enough for me.
