what is the length and diameter of the magazine plug on a mossberg 500turkey gun ?

Just so happens I got a plug sitting here out of an 870 Remmy. As I recall it's similar to what I've pulled out of Mossies........

End cap (butts up against the mag tube end plug) is 11/16+ wide, 3/8 thick. Overall length is 5 5/8", with the cross-shaped shaft being 15/32+ diameter.

that sounds about the same as the plug that came out of the 500 i used to have.. people make them out of cut dowel rods and o rings

If you make one out of a length of dowel, be sure to bevel the ends. I had the factory plug (a length of dowel) get caught in the mag spring and turn my 500 into a single shot. Fortunately, this happened when the turkey was already flopping on the ground, but it could have been quite inconvenient.

bubba, 1/4" dowel rod 9" long with two o-rings on it from the factory. tom.

Measured from a genuine Mossberg factory installed stick: 8 3/4" X 3/8"
