Mossberg 500 26"

I met a guy in sportsman's Warehouse that offered me a Mossy 500 with a 26in barrel. It is in good condition, he wants $200 for it. Is this a good deal? Should I ask to fire it before i purchase it? Any info helps.

A brand new one is listed at www.mossberg.com at $350 they usually sell new for $250 depending on features, a new Mossberg Maverick 88 is $195.85 and they all have warrantees and manuals and dealer backup if anything goes wrong. $100 to $150 for a good used Mossberg is about right in my books.

Near me no, that isn't a good deal because they go for $189.95 or something like that new.

The best deal on Mossbergs is the combo with two barrels - an 18" rifle-sighted slug barrel and a 26" ventilated rib barrel with interchangeable choke tubes. You can buy extra barrels for a Mossberg but they're $130 or so. The combo is a total deal by comparison.
