I was at Big 5 today and noticed they had 2 synthetic stock Mossberg 500's that were sold with 2 barrels. 18 and 26 inch barrels I think. One was priced the regular $400, but the other was on sale for $300. I asked the sales guy why one was on sale but the other wasn't, and he said the "silver trigger" model was on sale. That was the only difference between the two, the color of the trigger.

Anyways, that seemed like a pretty good deal to me. $300 for a Mossberg 500 and two barrels. It is a plastic stock, but that can be changed someday.

Is there any reason not to get the gun? (Other then it's Big 5 :barf:) Is this a crappy version of the 500 that Mossberg makes for Big 5 or something like that?

The only trigger colors I have seen on a recent 500 were gold and black. I wonder if one had the LPA trigger? $300 is a good price for the combo, if it is what you want.

Check the longer barrel....

Big 5 carried one Model 500 that has a "Fixed MOD Choke" barrel, no choke tubes...

That might be why it's less expensive...

Yeah, the longer barrel was fixed choke. That's fine with me though. I just want the long one to shoot some clays with family.

I guess it sounds like a good gun. As long as I could swap the ugly synth stock with something wood someday, I'd be happy.

Walmart has the 500 with wood furniture, 28" barrel and choke tubes for $229(ish) rather than save your money for wood down the road, save your money (you already just saved $70) and buy a 2nd barrel. Midway has them (well, on back order) for $77.99...so that $70 you saved, plus $8.00, plus shipping gets you wood and 2 barrels.
