Does anyone have a link to, or can anyone provide, detailed instructions on the disassembly and reassembly of the Mossberg 500 trigger group. I plan on doing some stoning and polishing of the contact surfaces to improve the trigger pull on my deer/slug-only 500 and was looking for some guidance with the trigger group.

I do have experience in different trigger groups as well as have done a couple of my own trigger jobs (encore/model 700) in the past but was hoping to find some detailed assembly/disassembly info for the trigger group.

Thanks,

Happy Shooting

I'm not sure exactly where to pick them up - sometimes on internet auctions like ebay, or on other sites, but an assy/dissasembly manual is likely the way to go. Sometimes I see them on idividual guns as pamplet like books for sale at Gander Mountain for different models. Others come as larger books that cover a number of guns.

I'm familiar with the Mossberg trigger group, but it is a lengthy process to go through the step by step tear down and re-assy process in writing here. There is a couple tricky area's in the procedure. I've done three of them in the last month and they are not real bad to do, but the first one could be a bitch without a guide.

trigger assembly

This is going to be hard information to come by, The Army TM's don't even show a parts breakdown for the mossberg 500's and my SARET-R team only replaces the trigger group as an assembly as mossberg wont provide the parts seperately for safety reasons.

Robert E. Boulanger

BTW if you damage a trigger group part Mossberg wont send you parts either you have to return the shotgun to them for repair. They are very picky do to liability.

I agree with previous post that they are a ***** to play with the first time but not so bad after that LOL

One specific source is the Gun Digest book of firearms assembly/disassembly by J.B. Woods My version had detailed intructions in the "shotgun" book for the 500 trigger assy. They were put out in volumes for various firearm types such as rifle, pistol, shotgun. etc.

The Mossberg liability thing is a recent change as you used to be able to purchase just the housings. Now you have to buy the whole assy as a unit unless you find a stockage of the just the housings. (there are still some out there) Brownell's for example still lists housings only for the 20ga. and the .410 , but apparently are out of the 12ga and now have only the assy.
