Mossberg 500A need help

I have a mossberg 500a & a big problem. Every once in awhile when I go to chamber another round, the shell flys out the bottom. I can't see anything out of place or worn, so can someone please tell me what to look at/for.

I had the exact same problem (and asked the same question here many months ago). The consensus was a "burr" on a certain part. I sent the shotgun back to Mossberg and they fixed it free of charge.

the burr is on the interruptor latch.


pull out both latches and lightly remove the offending gemoetry with a stone

Andrew, that seemed to solve the problem. I really didn't see any burrs, so I just used some 800 grt. sandpaper and followed the "cut" angles. It chambers alot smoother now too.

Ok, I'll bite. What's an interrupter latch. I've had my 500s apart many a time, but I don't know which part is which.

the interruptor latch is the latch that rotates up and down. the other latch is the onde that doesn't.
