mossberg 590A1 barrels

Hi everybody!

I was wondering....

My mossberg 590A1 is 18" and six shot.

is there a way to put the 20" barrel, and tubes on my gun, and a place to get them?

the 590A1 comes in both configurations, so I am hoping that it is just a matter of finding the parts.

or, is there another compatible barrel that would work?

clarification

I am thinking about hunting season next year, and if a barrel larger that 20" is available for the 5901, then that is better.

Mossberg 500 barrels will fit 590s. The mag tube length is what determines barrel compatibility. If you have the standard short mag tube (5 or 6 rounds ?) almost all M500 barrels will fit your gun except for the barrels designed for the 8 shot mag tubes which are normally only 20 inch I/C barrels.

Now that I think about it, I don't think the 18 inch barrel works on the extended mag so all the standard Mossberg 500 barrels should work out for you.

How do the 500 barrels work on 590s when 590s have a magazine cap and 500s have a captured screw?

Change the magazine tube?

The new barrel's captive screw just screws right in. After a google image search of Mossberg 590 if the op's gun is a 590 any 500 barrel will not fit. Like I said the mag tube is what determines barrel compatibility.

I have a M500 I converted to a 590, I can post pics later but I used a captive barrel screw on the 590 mag tube.

If you have a 6-shot 590, all of the barrels for the 835 will fit without any modifications at all...

There's also a two shot mag extender just for the 590A1 - I have one and it works great!

Well, sure, two other home defense items I have for my 590A1 are:

The Surefire forearm light. It puts the switch right under your fingers.

And, just imagine if you're awakened in the middle of the night:

The BackUp bedside gun rack. (Not if you have kids in the house.)

Then there's the whole issue of which shells - I have #1 buckshot, but there have been new home defense loads introduced recently.
