I have a mossberg 835 ultra mag. I will not cycle all the time. Most of the time it is the last shell in the magazine. I am thinking that the spring maybe getting week. Is my thinking correct or could it be another problem.

Thanks Treerooster

The reason your gun won't cycle on the last shot could very well be cured by a new wolff magazine spring.

where would i buy a wolf mag spring. found a spring at midway for 2 buck and some change. would that be the same spring.

Check if there are any dents or burs in the magazine tube. Check that your follower is in good condition. I had a 500 that did the same thing and it was the follower.

Treerooster,
I have an 835, please post any solutions you come up with. I have no problems so far but would like to upgrade to assure reliability.
So far great gun.

I had a similar problem on my 835.

Some sand/mud/gravel got into the magazine tube. I guess it was off of a dropped shell or maybe the gun got dunked as I stumbled to the blind in the dark.

The follower would hang up and the spring couldn't overcome the friction when it was extended to the last round.

Disassembly and thorough cleaning followed by light lubrication cured it.

You shouldn't oil the follower unless you modify it. Mag tubes are usually airtight, and oil will make a seal around it. Drilling a hole though the follower will eliminate that problem.
