Mossberg Cruiser Recoil

I been shooting a pistol grip since I was 12. First one was a maverick 88. Now I have a 590 cruiser. The full length tube and heat shield help mitigate recoil. I think a birds head grip helps reduce felt recoil more than a 90 degree pg.

It's not bad if you handle it right.

It's not a method of shooting with any advantages except for storage or maybe some so of weird concealment thing, but it won't hurt you.

Sorry but can't really help you because I never tried it as a PGO. At the time when I bought my Maverick 88 all I could find was a PGO and it was less expensive than the full stock model so I went with it. Really had no interest or desire in firing it as a PGO and shortly after getting it I found a Mossberg synthetic stock and have used it with that ever since. Did add a Limbsaver butt pad to help cut down on felt recoil. If I were going to go the pistol grip route I would consider going with a bird's head grip shape like that on the Shockwave. Seems like it should be somewhat less punishing to your hand and wrist.

Along with recoil.... the thing I'd be most concerned about would be whether I could hit what needed hitting...

In my years on the street I never met any competent shotgunner who thought that a pistol grip popper was worth much at all.

By the way - Bannockburn's Maverick is exactly the way my Remmy is set up -pretty hard to beat for close quarters work.
