At my local shop I recently saw a Mossberg O/U 12 ga. I checked on their website and couldn't find any info on this gun. Does anyone have any experience with one of these models?

No, but the most recent issue of Shotgun Sports has a review. Seems to be an OK entry level O/U, maybe a hair nicer than the Baikals,Stoegers et al.

"Mossberg International"

On the Mossberg web page is a link to Mossberg International, I found the over/under there. Or you could Google "Mossberg International".

Here you go.

AFAIK it's a gun made by Khan in Turkey, spec'd by Mossberg.

This is Khan's website.

What I don't know is whether quality of parts is different. The Turks make a pretty gun, but their metallurgy has had a bad reputation. Of course, a few tech people and/or parts from Mossberg could improve that, but I have no idea if Mossberg went through the trouble or just badged the shotgun.

If they just badged it, you can get a Khan with a plain-looking receiver for $100 less and it will perform similarly.

You'll note that the Mossberg is intentionally made to look like this Beretta, but that it lacks the Beretta's sleek lines and light weight. It handles okay, but nothing like the Beretta.

This is a basic field-grade Khan:

Big 5 in CA often sells it for $400, but only with a 28" barrel in either 12 or 20, AFAIK. Their best price for the Mossberg lately has been $490, either 12/28 or 20/26.

One final comment...

If any importers/manufacturers are listening...

If you want to sell double barrel shotguns for well under a grand without having to do something expensive and creative like set up a factory with modern machinery, try this.

Have the Russkies build a shotgun action and barrels. Leave it in the white. Send it to Turkey and let them do the metal finishing and build the stock and trigger guard.

Voila, you'll have a well-built shotgun that's nice looking, too. It won't be light, but you could retail it for $600 and do a lot of business.

A zombie thread.

First post/thread started back in Oct 2005. (I'm not bashing NWester on his first post, BTW Welcome to THR !!!), I guess you must have been doing a search/scrolling through the pages of posts, and thanks for being helpful. I hope tparker is still around and either found what he was looking for or went ahead and bought one.

I guess it is a good thing that the newbies are using the search function as there have been more then a few necromorphic threads recently.

And ArmedBear is spot on. I just wish they would/could do it in America. I'd love to buy an American made double (O/U and/or SxS).
