I picked up a Mossberg 500 Persuader this evening.

Went to load it up, but the magazine would only take four rounds?

It's very definitely as Persuader, 20" barrel, magazine tube extends to the end of the barrel.

Did I miss something obvious? (I mean, other than not making sure that the manual was in the box, which it wasn't, and I'll pick that up tomorrow.)

Many thanks.

But shouldn't the plug only allow it to hold 2 rounds? Maybe something else could be wrong.

If the plug were in a normal length tube, then it would only hold 2 rounds. But the Persuader has an extended tube, so it can hold 4 rounds. As stated in the thread I linked to, Mossberg ships two different magazine lengths but only one size plug.

OK i just read the other thread. I posted before you posted the thread. sorry about that.

That thread told me how to get the plug out (a thin dowel, approx 8" long, rubber O-ring near each end)

That got three more rounds in. 7 into the tube.

According to Mossberg's web site, it's 8 round capacity.

7 + 1?

Am I being greedy? I want 8, darn it!

:D

Mossberg advertises their capacities with one in the chamber.

Thanks, Loudernhel.

Fooey on Mossberg for that advertising.

I still would have bought it, but geez, Para-Ordnance tells you how many rounds the MAGAZINE will hold :(

You guys rock. I appreciate your help.

The plug came out just like advertised, and I picked up the missing manual today.
