Anyone have any experience with the mossberg scope/barrel combo? All that I know is that it's a 24 inch rifled 12 gauge barrel with a scope mounted and boresighted on it. I am wondering if it'll be worth it to buy. Currently I have a Maverick 88 18.5 inch smoothbore with a front bead. I am ok shooting foster type slugs out to 75 yards, but I am wondering if this combo would improve my range with slugs. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, it will improve your range and accuracy, but a rifled barrel is designed to shoot sabot slugs. Be sure to price the ammo before you buy.

Rifled barrels can also shoot foster or Brenneke type slugs as well. Often improving accurracy but doing little to increase range. The sabots usually increase both range and accurracy once you find the right combination for your gun. I went on an Illinois shotgun only hunt a few years ago with a fellow who used a setup such as you described, and if I had to hunt with a shotgun only in Texas, I'd own one
