I would appreciate suggestions/opinions on the most accurate, durable scope under $200 for a rimfire rifle. It will go most likely on a Ruger American, but that is still being researched. It will be used for long distance shooting. My budget for the whole rig is somewhere around $500. Thanks in advance for the help.

200-300 yard distance shooting at a stationary target such as a steel target. Thanks for the help.

Wouldn't mind shooting 1 MOA at 200 yards . But i have a varmint target that is about 4" wide and 9" tall

You'll probably want either a balistic reticle, or acurate turrets, in the price range your looking I'd probably suggest one of the fixed power target scopes. Youll get the adjustments you need and decent glass.

Something similar to this is what id chose. Ive used a fixed power bushnell that was similar infact, tho i dont think it was the same scope.

The shooter, ammo selection and the choice of 22 cal weapon make up more of the accuracy than the scope. It`s just one part of the equation.

A .22LR is never going to shoot MOA at 200yds. The cartridge's accuracy begins unraveling at around ~75yds. A 1MOA rifle at 100yds becomes a 2MOA rifle at 200yds. Or worse.

I've hit ground hogs in the head consistently at a range finder measured 70 yards with a 10-22 Ruger. I don't attempt anything at greater distances with the gun. I have a 4X Weaver K4 on it.

dddwho. nice to see a scope mounted as low as possible.
.....atthecross, I shoot 22 silohoutte at 50, 100, 150 meters using a Nikon prostaff bdc. the scope is a 3 to 9 rimfire. I sighted in the gun at 50 meters using the cross hairs. the little circles below the crosshairs just cover the steel targets perfectly with it left on 3x. unfortunately I miss at 200 meters. however I own the targets at all the other ranges. gun is a Kimber hunter. sold the savage. it just wouldn't get it done at the 150 meter mark. fwiw, bob

Mueller APV 4.5-14x40mm. It's only $120ish and has an adjustable objective and for a rimfire rifle it is outstanding. I bought one a few years ago to go on my .22lr based on all the hype on rimfire central. Since then I've bought 3 more for other rimfire rifles I have and I have been 100% completely satisfied with the scope. I mainly shoot my .22lr at 50 yards and the 17 HMR I shoot between 100 and 150 yards regularly.

I like the APv as much as anything else I have seen for under 150. It is certainly better than my sightron s1 4-12x. That said, I got one of the weaver grand slam 3-12x scopes natchez was clearing out for 200, and it is clearly (ha!) better glass. I hate to be the guy who immediately ignores your price ceiling, but natchez still has the 4-16x grand slam for $280. https://www.natchezss.com/weaver-re...pe-1-tube-4-16x44mm-dual-x-reticle-matte.html
or you can get a bushnell legend 4.5-14x for $220 https://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Leg...t_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=slickguns-20

but, for under $200, how about the vortex diamondback 4-12x for $160? https://www.amazon.com/Vortex-Optic...finements=p_89:Vortex+Optics&tag=slickguns-20

The weaver gs 3-10s are 150 on amazon and ebay right now....want one but dont have an excuse

+1 for the Mueller APV. I hadn't heard of them until I saw the guys on RimfireCentral talking them up. Bought one and like it. This from a guy who favors Leupold, Zeiss, and Vortex on his center-fires.

Natchez has some Bushnell custom gold scopes on sale that look identical to the Weaver 44/40's.

I bought one of the $150 3-10 grand slams as well. I don't like then has much as the newer models, but it sure is nice. Hands down better than any other $150 3-9x scope.

The wife and I have 4 of the Nikon prostaff rimfire scopes. All have been reliable and are very clear. Good value for the money. Just another option as there are some good choices mentioned in this thread.

Mueller, first and last stop. Not remarkably durable, but great for .22 target practice. I had one on my Anschutz and loved it. More clear and more forgiving eyebox than the Vortex Viper 6.5-20.

for what your doing id buy a vx1 3x9 leupold or a Nikon prostaff 3x9. If its out past a 100 yards you don't need or even want a dedicated 22lr scope as parallax on them is set at 50 yards for shooting at close range.
