It would seem to me that a double stack of a larger caliber in a conventional magazine would have more total energy in it's magazine than a larger caliber
single stack.

Just a simple calculation must have been done before. Does anyone know?

nah i doubt it only 28 grain bullets
but i guess the drop in 9x25 dillon barrel for glock 20

Without considering handguns that would be totally impractical for carry (Desert Eagle, PLR-16, Krinkov, chopped G-3's), the Glock 20 and Full size EAA witness with 16 rounds of 10mm take the cake, with upwards of 12,000 total ft/lbs. Hennings magazine extensions bring that number to over 17,000 in the Witness and hang out about 1".

Not that this number really means a damned thing. A Calico M-100 has over 14,000 total ft/lbs total, but I wouldn't want to rely on that total number when faced with a grave threat.

Well let's see here now my 500 with this load: 370gr at 1949fps for 3120fpe has a total energy of 15600fpe...

But that is obviously not an Auto...but just pointing out the upper echelon of calibers here.

Now the 460 Rowland with a load of:

200gr at 1472fps for 973fpe with 9 shots would give total 8757fpe

in a double stack 14 shots would give you 13622fpe

now a 10mm 744fpe with 16 shots gives 11,904 fpe

So I guess there you go...460 Rowland has it!

Mag extensions aside. Ok even if you wanted to go there, there are 40 round mags for the 45 so 41 rounds of 460 Rowland? Wanna tango?

A Glock with a 33 round mag full of +p 9mm might be there. A 15 round Glock 20 with hot loads would be tops I think with standard capacity mags.

Big Boomer, I've seen Glocks with 100-200 round magazines. :neener:

Anyway, if memory is correct, I've seen +2 and +5 round magazine extensions on 10mm Glock 20's. Throw a 6" barrel in there for more velocity with DoubleTap 200 gr. Beartooth, and you'll be looking at roughly 900+ ft. lbs. and 1450+ fps per shot. With 18 and/or 23 rounds.

That's still some good (and reliable... unlike some...) power there. :D

jmr40,

"A Glock with a 33 round mag full of +p 9mm might be there."

Assuming a 115 grain bullet at 1300 fps, such an arrangement (33+1) would give you ~14,671 fpe 'on tap'.

Not bad. :D

Glock 20 9x25 Dillon

The ultimate high power semi auto is the Glock 20 converted to 9x25 Dillon and a 15+5 round extension. A total of 20 rounds of super 9MM..

Your all missing the boat. While I first thought of the GLOCK 20.

AR-15 Pistol with a 100 round drum mag. That has to be more the 100,000 Ft/lb of total energy.:neener::neener:
