We occasionally see mountain lions in the woods here in Norther Wi, but I have never heard of them coming into town. This sounds like a young and stupid lion. Too bad he came into town.

Following his prey

Out here in the "wild west" we have these huge antlered rats, these tick infested car & garden destroyers are all over the place.
The lions consider the huge antlered rats to be food, their food is hanging out in the back yard, leaving lyme disease ticks for the kids to pick up and destroying the veggies.
Mtn lions consider deer and kids to be "lion chow" and it's onlt a matter of time before some 9yr old on her way home from school will be snacked upon, and the adults won't be able to save her because they won't have a gun.

Once again, a firearm is used to protect the sheep from a predator. Sad thing is, the human sheep are no smarter than regular sheep.

silly

They made a little dead kitty shrine up there today. Flowers and stuff. Hunters have been warning of this for years. I have a one year old baby girl. Another reason for the ccw. My dogs have killed racccoons, possums, and other stuff in my yard. I have to hide the bodys like on the Sopranos. In this silly state. You can get in trouble for that. And dont worry pipsqueke. I will give ya a sleave like the ones I use to train SH doggies. You will be fine..:D

Man reports mountain lion attack

Authorities were searching for a mountain lion Tuesday after a man reported that he was attacked by the cat near Valley.

The man told authorities that he was attacked about 2:45 p.m. Monday three miles west of Valley, said Jim Douglas of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, which is investigating the incident.

Douglas said the man, whose name was not disclosed, was treated at a doctor's office for scratches that were not severe.

The man then contacted the Saunders County Sheriff's Office, which alerted the commission.

Sightings of mountain lions are not uncommon in Nebraska. Since 1991, there have been 13 confirmed sightings. However, none of those involved an attack on a human.

After he was treated, the man led authorities to the site of the attack. Officers conducted a search of the area Monday afternoon with assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol.

Tracking dogs were unable to pick up a scent, and no tracks were found, Douglas said, but authorities were treating the man's account "as a credible report."

"If we find a mountain lion in that vicinity, it will be destroyed," said Douglas, who is wildlife division administrator for the Game and Parks Commission.

The commission decided in March that any mountain lion that threatens people will be destroyed.

In the past, officials have offered these tips on what to do when encountering a mountain lion:

• Make plenty of noise.

• Don't approach the animal.

• Give it an avenue of escape.

• Stay calm and talk firmly to it while moving backward slowly.

• Don't run; running may stimulate its instinct to attack.

Read in the local paper how there was a healing ritual up there, to help release the animals soul or something. Can't these people get LIVES?
