Greetings all! My new Colt LE6920 finally arrived last night, but I have a question about mounting my Eotech 551. I'm using a Larue Eotech mount and a Troy back up iron sight. From what I read on Larue's website, it seems that the iron sight should mount behind (i.e. closer to the charging handle) the Larue mount. When I tried this, however, there was not enough room for the sight to flip down. The Larue mount basically takes up the entire length of the flat-top, so I just mounted my iron sight on the Larue mount's picatinny rail. Everything lines up well, sight flips up and down. However, I was under the impression that the rail I used was reserved primarily for mounting a PVS-14 night vision monocular. I know that if I remove the Larue mount, the rear sight will be removed along with the Eotech, but I don't have any plans of removing the mount, especially since I can co-witness through the Eotech. Anyone have any experience/see any potential problems with this set-up? Thanks for any input provided.

Oops, nevermind! I just looked at a picture on AR15.com and realize that I mounted the rear sight backward  (I have it folding forward instead of back towards the charging handle). Newbie screw up.

Also remember the LaRue mount will raise the EOTech and the spendy and optional PVS-14 mounted to it 1/2" off the base rail on the upper receiver. If you mounted the rear BUIS to the LaRue mount, it will cowitness with your EOTech, but it will be 1/2" higher than the front sight post so you couldn't use the iron sights properly since the BUIS would be zeroed for something like 5 feet in front of your barrel :D .

The LaRue mount is designed to cowitness the EOTech holographic sight and the BUIS together, but with the BUIS on the lower 1/3 of the EOTech window due to the 1/2" rise. It makes those using a non-folding front sight block a bit less conspicuous when using the electronic sight.
