Mounting Mini red dot, Witness match

I am thinking about purchasing a Burris mini red dot or something of the like to replace the rear sights of my Witness Match .40, does anyone have experience mounting this sight? I know they make mounts for the most common auto-loaders. how difficult is it if there is no pre-made mount?
