Just curious, has anyone ever seen a movie where someone actually toggles between semiauto and burst/full auto? It seems like they always use them on full-auto only. Until I started getting into guns I always thought machine guns were automatic only. It would be nice if a movie showed guns more realisticly, but then again, it is Hollywood.

Just watched The Unit series, they got it pretty much realistic, considering it's an entertainment, available to everybody (that means you couldn't possibly be exact in every small detail, especially in tactics and decision-makings). And yeah, they did ran out of ammo, even.

But, machine guns don't run out of ammo!

This reminds me of the movie, "The hills have eyes" where a female soldier keeps one round so she can shoot herself, but you can clearly see that the primer is shot...

That's because they can afford to buy all they need with the proceeds of the overpriced movie tickets.

Isn't it ironic that the most anti-gun people (Hollywood) are the ones displaying them everywhere at their worst? And making money off of it?

If they're really serious about no guns, I'd like to see a moratorium on the use of guns in movies. Say no gun in any movie for 3 years.

What would be the state of Hollywood after 3 years?

We Were Soldiers has a good scene were the click from the M16 selector switch nearly tips off a group of Viet Cong, right before they're ambushed.

Under Seige 2 has a scene where Steven Segal explains the difference between semi-automatic and fully-automatic to a stripper before handing her an MP-5.

In Terminator 2 Sarah Conner tries to put a round in the back of the scientist's head, misses, then clicks it over to FA and ventilates his desk area while he ducks for cover.
I like The Unit. It's not perfect but it's more realistic than most, both with weapons and tactics. And the producer was in Delta for a bunch of years so he should be able to make it pretty realistic if the director doesn't veto his suggestions.

Yep. Why, I don't know. Single aimed shots would have still been better.

She should have walked down there, stood outside the window, and given him the magazine from contact distance.

(That would have accomplished her short-sighted goal.)
