I just mailed the app today! I included the app, copy of DL and CWP, and a check. Nothing was mentioned about a picture, so I assume PA CWP is like NH, no pic.

eric, perhaps its changed ,but when I applied to Centre County in August,2004 a photo was required.
I received my license mailbox to mailbox in 10 calendar days.
Denny Nau rocks!

Not every county puts a photo on the license. It appears to depend on the wealth of the county, and of that particular Sheriff's office. The local Sheriff bears all the costs of issuing the license. Not all of them invested in equipment that takes a picture and laminates the license.

So, to put it briefly - it depends.

UPDATE!!!

My check just cleared!
I mailed my application for PA CWP about a week ago.
Can't wait to get it!
I'll have FL resident, NH and PA non-resident permits.

W00T!!!

Bad assumption, unfortunately. I don't know if all the counties use the same form, but Centre County does require a photo, and it does appear on the permit.

From: http://www.co.centre.pa.us/sheriff/license_application.asp

Instructions for License to Carry Firearm Application

Completed and Signed Application must be accompanied by the following:

1. A photo copy of a license to carry a firearm (concealed carry permit) from your home state if that state has a concealed carry law.
2. A photo copy of your Driver's License.
3. A self addressed stamped envelope.
4. $26.00 fee for five year license and out of state processing. (Check/money order made out to Centre County Sheriff.)

Mail to:

Centre County Sheriff's Office
213 East High Street
Bellefonte, PA 16823

No mention of a photo anywhere.

:uhoh:

Well, I photo copied my FL DL and CWP, and send it in with the application. Duh.

But there was no mention of passport style photo, like for FL CWP. So I didn't send one in.

Ah, nevermind. There was another thread I had subscribed to that had a New Jersey resident trying desperately to get a PA permit. I got the two confused.

My apologies for not reading closely enough.

UPDATE AGAIN

So my permit came in today. Psss, it looks more like a small traffic ticket than anything else :what:
Took 2 weeks.
Good for 5 years. Now I have to sign it, and send the copy back to the sheriff.

NICE!!!

OH, btw, it says "VALID WITHOUT PHOTO" on it, so I was right after all.

MUCHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHHAA, I win!

Glad to hear about your success with your permit!

A warning you've probably heard before: if you're going to be living near the NJ line... Stay away from Philadelphia!

They've gone rogue lately, passing laws that are blatantly against the pre-emption laws and blatantly unconstitutional.

Anywhere outside of Philadelphia's influence is a fine and free place. :)

Which county did you apply to, again?

When it is time to renew, does it have to be to the same county?
