I am looking for collapsible stocks to put on my AP5. What reasonably-priced options are there and how do they stack up? Specifically, I’m interested in the soon-to-be released (allegedly) Magpul stock and the Safety Harbor KES. I’m also curious as to whether the stock that comes on the HK MP5 .22LR rifle is truly collapsible and, if so, whether it will fit a 9mm MP5 variant as it might be an option to buy a MP5 .22 to use it’s stock. I am also curious as to what components (plastic, steel, aluminum, etc) compose the the .22 stock.

I’d love to get an original classic collapsible stock, but have a hard time justifying $700+ for a stock when there are other options at less than half the price.

Any input or experience is appreciated. Thanks!

Saw an MP5 (.22 lr) at the range last week and actually put a magazine through it to try out the suppressor. Anyway, the owner had used some sort of adaptor and 3D printed a tail hook brace for it that made for very comfortable shooting. He said plans were online.

KES or B&T seem to be what moat are happy with. I went the ACR folder adapted to accept a tailhook for my SP5

NFA item with that stock ?

Correct. The AP5 would become an SBR. However, there is a rifle variant of the MP5 .22 that includes a stock, although I am suspicious of the stock as the complete .22 setup is about $500, but most stocks are $250+ by themselves.

I’ll probably go with the Magpul (whenever the end up releasing it) route or Safety Harbor (whenever they come back in stock) route. I love B&T stuff. However, I do not believe their stocks are produced in the U.S. (please correct me if I’m mistaken), which is a downside since a U.S. stock can count towards one of the six parts needed to be in compliance with 922R once my form 1 is approved and I assemble the SBR.

The stock on the 22 rifle is different than the brace is sold for the SP5. Also, Magpul did make the braces and they are out of stock everywhere and likely they won't make any more until the legal rulings come out come out

Thanks. That’s good to know.

To clarify, I am interested in a stock. Magpul has a stock that is coming soon that I’m interested in. https://magpul.com/sl-stock-hk94-mp5.html?mp_global_color=118. I’ll probably just go with it as my other Magpul accessories have been of high quality and affordable. The only thing that I don’t like about the stock is that it only has two positions (collapsed and fully extended) whereas the Safety Harbor stock has multiple positions. I like the athletics of the Magpul more though and would probably use it at the fully extended position even if Magpul offered multiple positions.
