I don't know about shotguns and the ammo that they use. My question is: if I have a pump shotgun (I don't yet) and it is capable of using 3" shells, will it also accomodate 2-3/4" shells?

In general, are max chamber sized pump shotguns downward compatible with shorter shell sizes?

Thank you for your time.

Yes! The only problem you may run into is some of the mini shells (the little ones, made by Aguila) may not feed smoothly in repeaters, but they'll all fire fine.

Thank you! I was going to use a borrowed double barrel shotgun for my first turkey hunt, but my glorious wife just told me it's OK to buy a shotgun I had my eye on from Bud's. On the premise that I was going to use the borrowed gun with its shorter chamber, I went to Sportsman's Warehouse and bought some ammo. Wellllll, since my beloved said "go for it," the shotgun at Bud's is chambered for 3" and since there are no returns on ammo, I was just going to use the same ammo, if it would fit. #4 shot 3" shells are hard to find as yet and I was thinking "a bird in the hand"... with the ammo I just bought.

Thank you for your help so quickly!

OK. I bought the Mossberg 500C FLEX 12 24/18 XF MOI (55113) from Bud's. I really liked the flex design. I'll get some rounds in for patterning before the hunt begins in two weeks.
