This past Sunday came cruising through about an hour after daylight. She first spotted him about 150yds out. He made a bee line to us and turned at about 60yds, that's where I stopped him. She dropped him in his tracks with my 280 Rem.

I load reduced recoil for her 7mm-08 but hadn't confirmed zero on it this year. So I had her use my 280. I didn't tell her it would have more recoil, and when I asked her after, she said she never even noticed... I knew she wouldn't😄

I was more nervous than she was!!! An awesome hunt for sure!

Great buck. I’m sure she was excited. As far as I m concerned they are all trophies. My wife doesn’t field dress them either. As far as I’m concerned it is a small effort for the pleasure of having a significant other that hunts.

My wife shot a buck with no horns this year. You read that right . Adult dear with 2 little nubs about as big around as a pencil and 3/4 of an inch long. She was just as happy with that as the big 9 point she got a couple of years ago.

Great picture, and you may have just lost your 280. The falling leaf in the picture is unique. I thought, what the hell is that!
There's no "may have" to it. I was informed it was no longer my 280 about 30 minutes after the picture was taken.... 😄

Leaf is just a random leaf I picked up to cover the exit wound for the picture. Not sure what kind of tree. And no, the exit wound was nowhere near that big... 😄
That's a big leaf!
