I find it interesting that MSN is making an honest effort to educate the gun ignorant public about guns, ammunition, magazines, and the 2A. While the information in the article is incomplete and one can argue with some of the statements therein, it's refreshing to read something that doesn't purposely obfuscate, mislead, or editorialize...especially from a source as left-leaning as MSN.

Kind of helps the average Joe clear a few things up. I don't like how they say gun shows are exempt from background checks though, they should have just said 'private sales are exempt' (regardless of where it is, such as at a gunshow).

It does use the typical deception in talking about high capacity magazines. The media always focuses on rifle magazines while neglecting all the handguns that would be affected.

Federal laws prevent the government from tracking how many guns are sold every year and who buys them, so there are no definitive statistics.

The number of NICS checks is known so the above is significantly incorrect.

Actually they do, as the NUMBER of guns is reported
Actually, no. It's simply the number of background checks reported. Not all of those checks result in a gun purchase. For instance, I believe that Kentucky runs a NICS check on all CCW holders monthly. None of those checks have anything to do with the purchase of a firearm. Also, there are purchases that are cancelled after the NICS check has been run (declined credit card, buyer changed his mind, etc...).
