MSNBC whining about how gun control isn't coming fast enough

The only good thing I've seen come of this whole thing is that schools have updated their security measures.

Doors are being locked now and more schools are actually putting plans in place in case another tragedy happens like New Town.

These are the ones that I fear the most..... Not sure what state this reflects but I assume CT.

Lawmakers are trying to forge a bipartisan consensus but they are finding it difficult. “I would hope that we would have a broadly supported bipartisan bill, but I think it’s more important that we have a strong bill that meets the need,” said Sen. Majority Leader Martin Looney, a Democrat.

You see, the supporters of these actions don't care what the "other side" says. They simply want to get it done regardless of whether or not it has an effect on crime. They want "control" for the sake of control.

The anger of the tail not being paid attention to by the dog.

I love the notion of these self appointed social engineers eating their livers over not being paid sufficient attention - in their opinions.

Nothing wrong with being an honest liberal, but you need to get your boys in check when they rail against our Constitution. Just like you would do I'm sure at the slightest mention of limiting the 1st, 4th, 5th etc.........only real difference is the the left in the USA really does attack the 2nd!!

Martin Looney is absolutely dreadful.

I tire of the term "bipartisan" being thrown around in Connecticut, because in the end, the Democrat majority and our governor have made it abundantly clear that whatever they want to happen will happen despite any cute little facade of welcoming opinions from the other side of the aisle.....which, by the way, is barely better than the Dems here.

The stuff that has been coming out of these people is insulting and terrifying because we just know that they know what they're proposing is ignorant, irrelevant, counterproductive, and not representative of....well....anything except their longstanding gun control dreams come true.

It may be looking better on a national level, and I realize Colorado and New York have been the big topics lately, but a dark cloud of nonsensical gun laws is approaching Connecticut, I can just feel it. Keep an eye on us and wish us the best....

No, I support the entire constitution. I don't agree with the anchor baby ammendment, but I respect it. I think we can all hate parts of the constitution, but we need to be consistent on it. They aren't my friends or anything, so what am I going to do? It's not like I can tell them to **** and respect our 2nd ammendment and they'll actually do it...

I'm actually suprised that CT didn't get rid of some of their gun control laws after Newtown given how strict they already were. Oh well, I guess common sense is lacking in anti-gun politicians more than other...

Sick and tired of reading and hearing about how they (Congress) better hurry up, people are dying every day because they haven't passed these new gun control laws. As if somehow, by magic I guess, that if these laws were introduced today, the murder rate would drop to zero by tomorrow morning. You just can't argue with people this naive.

Did it ever occure to these so called "News People" that after the Obahma people dismantle the 2nd amendment that the 1st might be next? Or the 3rd? Or the 5th?:what:

Yes. Looney is a CT State Senator.

Appropriately named, as well...

Don't forget the 4th, or 10th, or 14th! Yeah I've often asked anti gun people exactly that: If someone destroys this part of our constitution first, then what are you going to do if they decide they'd like to get rid of some of the other parts after that? How would you protect your 1st amendment rights if the 2nd was already gone? Harsh language? This is a right we have to keep our government from getting too out of control and trampling the rights of our citizens. Lose that and you might as well hand the whole bill of rights along with it..

The 1st already is in effect

Disagree with anything they say and it's labeled racist and/or hate speech.

Yes. It's interesting how many on the more Liberal side of the aisle got all riled up about the Patriot Act (rightly so) but they can't see how similar this fight is....

Laws aimed at things owned and used by the lawabiding millions really do not affect or control the behavior of the criminal few.

It is not as though the gun issue has not been discussed for years, decades, even generations.

After Newtown states slow to embrace "new" (but really old) gun control proposals, many of which the have already tried and found unproductive and in some cases counterproductive.

New Zealand abandoned its national gun registry in 1983. Canada abandoned their national long gun registry last year as a seventeen year wasted experiment. We need a gun regisitry? Now!? Why???? Gun control avocates have wanted one for severald ecades and been denied? Maybe there was a reason.

The current moral panic over gun control is not gaining traction. Some states embraced the previous moral panics, such as Satanic Ritual Abuse, and got burned.

Jon Vernick, co-director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research. But there remain “the Idahos of the world, where really little has changed since Newtown.”

Nice to have Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research self-outted as as a blatant gun advocacy outfit, apparently waiting for an exploitable crisis to push an angenda through fear and panic that they could not advance with logic or reason, even with their tailored advocacy research.

It's amazing that we need 'common sense' firearms laws when we have over 20,000 firearms laws already. This must mean the existing 20,000 have no modicum of common sense? How stupid!

There are no "common sense" gun control laws.
