hi guys,

someone wants me to take a look at their browning buckmark. they said that it will sometimes fire multiple shots when the trigger is pulled. What would be the most likely culprit?

i'm pretty sure that the gun has seen alot of use and it is probably something worn or broken.

thanks for any ideas.

Clean the thing. The firing pin is full of crud and is not fully retracting.

Either what he said ^^^^^^ or it is an adjustable trigger model and the thing is filthy. First thing I would do is hose it down with Kroil or PB Blaster and let it sit for 15 minutes, then hose it out with brake cleaner. Oil when it dries and test. If the trigger pull is under about 2 pounds adjust it up to about 2 pounds and it should be fine if I am right about what is wrong with it.

thanks for your help,

it turned out to be a Ruger Mark II and i believe it was a filthy firing pin. it was so dirty that you couldn't see the firing pin return spring when the pin was removed. i stripped it down and gave it the wd40/toothbrush cleaning and will try it out this weekend. pretty sure it is healed
