Hi all!

I'm new here, and new to the state of TN. As the title indicates, I'm located in the Murfreesboro-Nashville area.

I'm interested in finding a range that offers a gun course...primarily, I'm interested in learning to skeet shoot. I need help with info, basics, and outfitting. I'm a woman AND left-handed and have been told these are "issues" in regard to training and gear. Don't know about that, but I DO refuse to shoot right-handed. ;) lol

Anybody out there know of anything in these areas? I'd sure appreciate pointers!

south_paw,

If it is primarily skeet you are interested in learning to shoot, there are two places in the local area I would recommend.

The first is Big Springs Clay Targets, here in Murfreesboro. Their website is www.bigspringsclaytargets.com I've never shot there, but I have heard nothing but good stuff about it.

The second is the TN Clay Target Complex, off of Briley Parkway in west Nashville. Their website is http://www.tnclay.com/ I've been there, and the range is impressive, to say the least.

Either one of those two places could help get you started. Also, you might consider contacting the NRA, and ask about NRA-certified shotgun instructors in the area.

If you'd also like to learn to shoot pistol, I'd love to help you. I am an NRA-certified pistol instructor, as well as a TN Dept. of Safety certified Handgun Carry Permit instructor. (In fact, that's how I'll be spending this Saturday, teaching a carry permit class.) I teach in Joelton, which is on the northwest side of Nashville, about 30-40 minutes from downtown Murfreesboro.

Oleg (Volk, posted above, owns this website) and I are planning to take some ladies to the range next Sunday for some basic pistol instruction, including a mother and her teenage daughter. If you'd liek to join us, you're more than welcome to do so. Or, if you'd like, I'd be quite happy to take you to the local range (On Target) and give you a free lesson or two. (I'm an annual member there, and have a few free passes left, so it'd only cost you ammo.)

My cell phone number is (615) 668-5345. Feel free to call me, and we can discuss getting you the help you're looking for.

I'm in the same boat - well, I'm not a woman and God spared me the shame of being a southpaw - :D - but I've been trying to find a facility to learn how to skeet shoot. I'm well versed in handguns, but don't even own a shotgun.

I've also been looking for places to 'plink' outdoors here in Middle Tennessee. On Target is a wonderful facility and I enjoy going there very much, but I have to admit, I'm getting pretty bored shooting at paper targets. Any public land in the area I can set up some cans and practice 'unsuprvised?'

Thanks!
