You know, I was wondering just the other day how many shooters are also musicians.
I always thought I was sort of an oddball, being an 18 year old classical pianist who also enjoys taking trips to the shooting range.
So who else here plays? What instrument(s)?

Well I've been playing musice for the better part of 15 years now, and it came as a surprise to a lot of my musician friends when I became interested in shooting for recreation. I play guitar and bass.

I've been playing guitar for 20 years and love to shoot. After cleaning my M1A last night, I jammed for an hour or so. I also play ice hockey FWIW.

yeah, classical musicians who enjoy shooting are probably not all that common...

i grew up playing the cello in all sorts of orchestras while in school and recently started playing again with the Columbia Orchestra here in columbia, maryland.

the performing arts culture in general seem to be a rather liberal influence. and of course i live in one of the most politically liberal states in america, wheee

but this genie proudly stands for a love of orchestral music and a love of shooting my handguns/shotgun/rifles!

slightly off track - i recently started attending a new church. while getting to know some people there, they find out that the things i'm passionate about include God, guns, and orchestras. i think they find me a bit odd. :D

Guilty little secrets

Yes. I am a musician. I play keyboards in an Austin TX band called "The Adventures of . . . "

You can see us April 11 at the Vibe on Sixth Street. Come early and stay late.

Been playing in rock bands since 8th grade --way way back in the 70's.....bass mostly but some guitar too. Still play all the time, just usually not for money.

Also homebrew, and slow smoke pig meat.

Another guitar player here - mostly acoustic these days, and for naught but the enjoyment of myself and my 19-month-old daughter - who's by far the most important audience I've ever had :) . I'd list my wife too, but she gets more annoyed when I'm playing, as I tend to get repetitive trying to learn new material.

Have played with bands in the past, have no plans to do so again any time soon.

I also homebrew, enjoy fine cigars, and high-quality bourbons :) .

I've played guitar since I was six, seriously since I was 12. I was in a punk band in Dallas in 1988-1990... we had a few paying gigs and everything. I was never really into punk but that's just where I ended up. We also did a few covers from Metal Blade type bands in addition to mostly punk covers and a handful of horrible original songs. We even did a couple punkized covers of pop songs, really making fun of them more than anything else.

All through high school and Freshman year of college, I was planning on being a music education major with a concentration in strings and pre-Classical period music. I have most of the strings down pretty well, esp the cello which I got a full scholarship to school with. The winds are all pretty similar and I can play them all enough to make them sound right and play at the high school level but certainly am not as good as with strings. Brass I know the fundamentals of and the fingerings of but I have very little experience with. And play keyboard instruments enough that I've played harpsichord a few times on stage in chamber music performances but I'm certainly nothing to write home about.

I especially like Renaissance music up into early Baroque and period Celtic music and those were my primary interests.

I play every day... mostly solo looping these days, but also some 'power pop rock'.

PM for links to my MP3s.

I don't play, but I am supporting my son's music habit...4 guitars, 3 amps & ALOT of misc. gear in the last 4 years :D

Off topic. Closed.

Harmonica.
A little ACDC on the guitar.
Piano.
Spoons.
Triangle, and miscellaneous instruments that require no real talent. :p

My oldest son, 20, played trumpet for quite a few years. He also shot HP rifle matches, and bowling pins at local shoots and the late, lamented, Second Chance Bowling Pin Shoot. The last year we won a rifle together in a father/son stage and he won one himself in the Junior Division.

My 10 year-old-son plays violin and shoots e-mail benchrest .22 matches with me. He has a list of 21 or 23 guns he's shot and wants to add to it as soon as the dratted snow melts.

Me? I play a mean radio, AM and FM!
